Grady Update
Friday, 5 June 2009 09:33Still no food or drink. Last night (and on Tuesday night) I put him up on the bed with me and we slept. Sometimes I think he misses that closeness ritual that we used to share every night. He put a paw on my hand and rested his head on it, purring weakly as his eyes closed.
This morning I tried to get him to drink some water but he wasn't having any of that. I put the water dish by his hideout. Hopefully that will be more encouraging than having to come out into the kitchen for it.
Today the vet will call to see if the anti-nausea meds they gave him encouraged him to eat anything. I don't look forward to having them keep him for observation for any length of time -- I can't afford it. I already have enough people wanting my money and they're not happy about not getting any of it. A job would be very helpful right now. It upsets me to no end that I may lose one of my best friends because I can't afford medical care for him, and he has no other voice but mine to speak for him. The clinic will work with me for payments, but I'm already tapped in the first place. It's a dilemma I was not prepared to address until Grady was much older than this.
I have a package to ship this morning, then I will hang out here with Grady - closely - to see if I can encourage him to drink something.
He's not talking, either. I can't get a peep out of him. That stings worse than his lack of appetite.

5/6/09 19:10 (UTC)I know this sounds mean, but have you tried force feeding him, baby food and kitten formula? Just to keep up his strength and hydration until whatever is bothering him passes?
Just a thought, I did that to Mr Kitty (icon)when he got sick, until I got a diagnosis and $!$!$!$ estimate.
Good luck to you. I'm keeping him and you in my thoughts.
