Is anyone else on my flist as excited about this as I am? Is anyone actually GOING? Even for a day? I preregistered for the entire weekend, and will be attending the entire weekend. I asked Allison to go because she's a gamerchick too, but no word on whether she'll want to do the whole weekend thing like I will.
Why do I go when I don't play hardcore? The industry fascinates me. Video gaming is quickly becoming equal with television as primary in-home entertainment. There are several other industries that benefit from the rise of video games. Actors, musicians, artists, and writers all benefit from the surge of interest. Pretty soon the back of video game clamshells will read like a major motion picture.
I will be attending several discussions during the weekend (mainly on music and freelancing, cultural impact, and marketing) as well as spending an ungodly amount of time in the exhibition room. If they'd just hurry up and announce who the musical guests are, I'd probably join that, too.
I don't want to go by myself and run into my ex, who may or may not be there. While it is relevant to his interests, it would mean actually leaving his computer to attend. Either way I really don't want to wander the convention center alone.
