I'm still kinda excited about this weekend's upcoming gig. I have no idea what to expect -- it's been over a month since we did that open mic, and I felt like the songs we presented just didn't go over that well (we didn't get the silent treatment or anything, but the last open mic we did got a much happier response, and we played at the same time of night).
So now I'm working on a set list, trying to figure out how many songs we can play in a 35-minute period and still work on the crowd. I have it down to seven, and I know we have at least 10 to choose from that we're really tight on, plus another two that are still pretty fresh but need a little more practice. I have no idea how to go about this. If it turns out to be just 6 songs, at least the last two on the list are upbeat enough to leave the stage on a good note.
Hopefully this will lead to more gigs. CJ still hasn't made mention of our demo tracks or if he's heard them at all, which makes me nervous. I think he has thrown this gig our way because he's genuinely a nice guy, and I hope this experience is a positive one for all the bands involved.
In other news, UPS put my haircolor package on an Eastbound truck instead of the Westbound truck it was supposed to go on, and now I won't have fresh color for the performance on Friday. That blows. I don't think I can buy this color (Special Effects - Blood Red) anywhere else, and it's too late to order it from another retailer with more reliable shipping. Fuck.
