Grady burped at me today. I don't think I've heard it quite like that before. Just a little "UGKH" like he'd just taken a big swig of soda pop. He sits on the chair next to me while I'm on the computer, so it was hard to miss. I looked at him and he stared at me for a few seconds. «What? You do this all the time.» He then began to wash his face. «Whatever,» he dismissed.

The cold is worsening. I'm not very happy about that. So far the symptoms are sneezing, fever, and a dry cough. Ugh.

My phone interview went well today. I like it when I talk to someone about a job and something just clicks, and not only do you realize there's a good chance at an offer, but there are people at the Evil Empire who value integrity and accountability who tell you so. After dealing with so much balderdash over the years it's refreshing. Can I put those two things on my resume?

All last week people I didn't know were showing up on my doorstep. Five young men, all with the same M.O.: They'd ring the doorbell, then immediately knock on the door loudly. I don't know about you, but combination sounds urgent! And no, I don't get many visitors, ever! Especially unexpected ones! The first two I was irritated to find no emergency when I opened the door. "Someone else from your organization has already knocked on my door today," I told guy #2. "Really?" "Yeah." "Uh... what'd he look like?" "Young, nicely dressed, said something about spreading the gospel to homeless teenagers." "Oh. You sure?" "Yes." A silent head scratching ensued. "Kid, I have things to do. Good luck to you." "Okay." I closed the door.

I got three more the rest of the week. Today I was trying to take a nap and another one came to my door. Doorbell, loud knock. I yelled from the bedroom "GO AWAY" and went back to sleep. Gosh, I hope it wasn't my neighbor. Actually, she would have either knocked again or left a note. Neither of those two things happened.

Rehearsal tonight was productive. I need to memorize lyrics for a song I titled "wrecking ball." It's harder than usual because I am also playing guitar on this song. We have two new songs and a cover for this next show at the end of October, AND we're re-recording "Everything" to submit it to a charity compilation disk.

I have avoided referring to my bandmates as "brothers" specifically, because I didn't think it was accurate. I don't really know what it's like to have brothers, though. I just know that all three of them are very, very cool. I still miss Laurel. Eden and I talked about her today after rehearsal. Last I heard, Laurel was working in downtown Seattle and had an all-girl band she was writing songs and performing with. I hope she is happy, I really do. Everything she ever advised me on regarding my divorce turned out to be true. Now I wish she was still around so she could let me know what was next. Should I move to France? Laurel would know, she speaks much better French than I do. As for Ethan... meh.

Tuesday is another phone interview. I keep my fingers crossed for each one.
