A tale of two bicycles, etc

I have two bicycles: A pink one my in-laws gave me and a green one I "borrowed" from a friend.
Due to some hang-up I had, I never rode the pink bike. It was too tall, the tires were too bumpy, Garret wouldn't ride with me (he got a bike the same time I got the pink one)... complain, complain, complain. My BIL went to great lengths to clean the bikes up and deliver them to us, but they didn't get any use. Garret took his bike with him when he moved out. He also took my blue bicycle helmet. I think I may have told him to, I don't know. Point is, the pink bike got the short end of the stick.
Here it is a few years later and I still can't bring myself to ride the pink bike. I could probably make do, and tried to, but the all-terrain tires made the ride unfriendly. A friend ended up lending me a green bike she'd had in her garage, which had street tires and a comfy seat, and that's the bike I've been riding all summer. I added a rack and some baskets to it, making it great for a grocery run.
Today I'm taking the green bike to the shop. It has developed a tic in the pedaling axle that is making me crazy, and the gear shift needs a little adjusting. I was going to take both the green and the pink bikes in, but at $60 each... I can only afford one tune-up. Especially since the pink bike needs its tires replaced with something that doesn't shake the teeth out of my head whenever I want to zip over to the sebben-lebben.
++++++++++++
My muscles were still sore from Friday's boot camp, so I decided to run. I'm no runner.
After studying the "couch to 5k" program, I decided to apply the principles to my own version. I can't stare at a stopwatch and run at the same time, but I can count steps. What used to be "run for a minute, walk it off for ten" has evolved. I have effectively reduced my walking time to about four or five minutes. Whatever it takes, you know? I am terrified of letting my weight go above 200 again. I need to run while I'm still able to.
