Because I'm pretty broke these days, I thought I could get by with grocery store kibble for Grady. He's been doing pretty well since Garret's departure, and I still make sure he gets gushyfud once a day, but his stress levels have been high since I left for my reunion and have yet to come back down.

Tonight he barely touched the wet food and hocked up what looked like a very unhealthy shade of pink. Thanks, cat -- I really can't afford to take you to the vet, but now I have to. I wish I knew what it was that did this to you if not stress.

FWIW, we feed both the cats IAMS pretty regularly -- and they (in general) seem to be just fine...

Whenever he refuses to eat, he will eventually begin to vomit. I can't ever predict what will trigger it, but it's incredibly scary when it happens. The Hill's i/d is the one kibble he will eat without argument or hoarking. How much is IAMs for a 10# bag?

about $15 as I remember -- we get the "multicat" version -- but it's all the same price ;>

I wouldn't head to the vet yet. While I'm not a vet, both my father and uncle are and I've heard them say that 9 times out of 10 when a cat vomits it doesn't mean much. If it continues then maybe worry, but not after only once. Cats are strange creatures and creatures of habit. You broke that routine, and are paying the price. I'm sure Grady will be fine in a day or 2.

Grady used to vomit with regularity before Garret moved out. He did it when he was scared or stressed or hot. I've taken him to the vet twice for this after waiting him out to see if he'll let up and am given an anti-nausea scrip that helps. He doesn't even have to have anything in his stomach. That's why the pink scares the crap out of me -- my first assumption is that it's blood.
