Band update
Tuesday, 8 July 2008 19:55Band rehearsals have moved back to Evolution Studios for the time being. It's time to move on to lead guitar search round 3 -- something that sounds like a bad reality show. A couple of weeks ago we ran through a lackluster set, Ed scared the crap out of me with "quick coffee?" and Ron brought up the idea that we should just book a show and the rest would fall into place.
Turns out Ed had no bad news, he was just thinking the same thing Ron was. So I put out feelers.
We have been booked for a show at Roy's Place in Lynnwood on August 1st. Our set will be about 45 minutes, and begin around 8:30-9ish. Once I have more information, I will post it along with the flyer. Roy's Place is an all-ages venue and rehearsal space that books a variety of bands. We were not asked to sell tickets, which is good (pay-for-play is a ripoff anyway). Entry should be about $8.
With this ahead of us, we can focus on creating a set without a lead guitarist. There's no time to try and ramp someone up on that now. We're still looking, though. If you know anyone... send 'em our way: wynne @ troublefakers dot com.
In the meantime we're all fighting the doldrums. Ron dealing with his frustration over not having another guitarist to collaborate on arrangements with, Ed with not playing at all (despite his membership in at least four bands), Donnie with not having played out yet and fighting a sinus infection, and me... me with the roller coaster of crap I seem to be stuck on. Having a goal has helped. Coming home from this week's rehearsal was tough, though. I got very sad once I was alone.
But we're playing a show! That should be fun, right? Tell me you'll be there!
