Fall Out Boy's cover of Michael Jackson's "Beat It" makes me feel even older than Alien Ant Farm's cover of "Smooth Criminal."

Covers in general: good or bad?

Covers during a show - almost always good - unless the band just sucks.

Covers released must add something unique and interesting - and of course the band can't suck.

Releasing a cover that sounds like the original and adds nothing really unique is worthless.

Example of a great cover:

I agree with what the commenter above me said.
Depends on the rendition and the talent of the band.

Depends, some songs I never want to hear covered, for others it largely depends on if the band is good, or bad, and if I like the way they covered it.

Fall Out Boy's cover is one of the worst covers I have ever heard in my life.
