I woke up with a lot of pain in my legs this morning. My calves are so tight I can barely walk, and it's going to take a lot of stretching to loosen them up. Oh, and I have a painful blister on my pinky toe. Ow.

So I bit the bullet and drove in today. It was a decent enough commute. I'm actually more concerned with the commute home since it's a little uglier. We'll see. Whatever happens, my legs will probably thank me for not punishing them more.

Do you know the back route? It may not be guaranteed faster, but it's often less irritating.

I know a few back routes from Redmond, but not Bellevue. It's been my experience that Lake Washington Boulevard is not a great evening substitute unless you like watching people walk faster than your car is crawling.

There's two ways that I like -

The 112th route - which turns into many streets and eventually effectively ends (is occasionally v busy, but steady since there are few lights or stops until you get near Kirkland proper) at 85th in Kirkland, where you can then go right to Market (which turns into 100th) pretty busy, depending on time, or right and take a left at 132nd, which varies.

The other is to take 116 until 70th, then go left onto 70th to a right on to 132nd, which will be clear all the way to 85th also. Then, varies.

And the lake way, ICK.
