No place like home for the holidays, I guess. I just got the call from my agency: They'll be cutting my contract short by a month and a half, citing lack of work. I have no idea what they'll be doing with the guy they just hired, but he knows code so I'm guessing there will be plenty of work for him.

I had asked my agency rep the previous Friday about my workload, because I have been bored out of my skull lately. I'm given a task, and done with it by the end of the day. I try to contact my lead but he is not prompt replying, so I sit. I go to his office and he's not there, so I go back to my desk and sit. I call and get voice mail, so I leave a message and then sit. There used to be plenty to do, but now there isn't. So I sit. I guess she finally got through to him today and he delivered the news to her. My last day is December 5.

I never like hearing that my contract is ending. I'm a little sad, a little relieved, and a little freaked out. There is NO work in the city through the end of the year. I might get lucky, but I think I'll look forward to focusing on the Holidays instead.

I'm thinking I may ask my neighbor to go into a holiday crafts venture with me, though. She makes these really nice earrings -- not the crap you usually see at fairs and stuff. So I won't be hurtin' too bad. I also have a chunk saved up. The thing that's gonna suck is that I was just getting back into being able to pay a bunch of my bills on time (car, MC, etc).

Maybe we should go into business together!

Alas, I am a crafter. Unless you could code the shopping cart module for me to sell my creations to, I have no idea how we could make that work.

I could do shopping carts... :-) Of course, given the prevalance of sites out that would already have this set up for you, it would probably be wasted effort.
