Grady has been extremely needy lately. I used to think it was because I have things I need to do and he's just underfoot, but now I'm not so sure. His latest strange behavior:

-- He will sit on the floor at my side and timidly "mew" at me. If I don't turn right away and look at him, I get gently poked with a paw or two.

-- There is a plastic bag on the floor next to my computer chair. I would have thrown it out a long time ago, but he has adopted it as His Place to Nap when not on me (but I'm still in the living room). This includes Wii time.

-- He meows after I've picked him up. It used to be that picking him up meant no meowing. Now he wants to talk. And headbutt me.

-- Being on my lap is Number One Priority. Garret is usually the Lap Guy. Apparently, he's been fired.

-- If my lap or the plastic bag on the floor isn't good enough, there is a small box of packing peanuts by the television. This box is not big enough for him to sit in, but he's happy to try OR stand in it with his front legs while "making biscuits." Usually this ends with the box on its side and Grady snoring on the floor covered in peanuts. He swats me when I go to clean them up.

I do not understand cats at all. Is this normal or part of his tummy trouble? OH GOD IF ONLY HE SPOKE ENGLISH MY PROBLEMS WOULD BE SOLVED.

Part of his normal behavior is pestering me until I go to bed, starting at 11pm. It is now well past that time. Good night.

Sounds to me (along with his history) that something is stressing him out and causing both strangish behaviors and tummy trouble at the same time. Alternately, tummy trouble could be stressing him out and/or causing him to be short on nutrients that are important for his mental health.

That's something I've considered. We knew he was high-strung, and after a week of being on the prescription diet he seemed to be improving. I'm not entirely sure of what else I can do for my cat's mental health, though. Garret does *not* want to give him an antidepressant. Even I think that's extreme.

Hehe, I can definitely say I know your pain. The latest addition to our family, a little male called Victor, has the very annoying habbit to follow you everywhere he can and preferably not get off you lap for anything in the world and headbutt your toes if he can't get picked up. And other than that, he talks and talks and talks incessantly (my English spelling is really going down the drain), with a "meeeeeeow, meeee eeeeow, meooow meow,...". He goes on and on, and if you answer him, he'll keep it up even longer.
But then, Victor has always been this way, he's just a wacky cat.
I hope Grady will be alright and it really isn't caused by his belly aches...
