It's snowing outside and it's beautiful. The neighbor to my left has her son and nephew out in the yard and they're making snowmen and throwing snowballs at each other. I went out in it to get Garret's meds from the Walgreen's on 116th -- easy to get down there, not so easy getting back. I shouldn't be, but I'm always stunned by the inability of the population here to drive in snow. Does nobody ski? We have mountains, right up the street! Geez, people!

When I left it was just sprinkling. There was a dusting from the night before on the ground. By the time I got out of the pharmacy (which was an adventure by itself, as they didn't have the Humiera I was there to pick up) it had covered my truck. Whoa. I found my all-purpose car thingy and brushed it off as best I could and hurried into the driver's seat. It's coming down in clumps by now and since this pharmacy location doesn't have the meds I'm told that I need to go to 140th and 8th NE in Bellevue to pick it up. Less than a quarter mile en route I realize that is going to take forever, so I head home.

I'm fine in snow. I have a car that is suited for driving in it and I do pretty well navigating ice and slush. The problem is other drivers. An SUV is not a free ticket to be a jackass in inclement weather. Tonight's rush hour commute will take a very long time (cars will probably still be packed on the freeways at 10 tonight), and I bet it won't be just because most drivers are being cautious. In the three miles between Walgreen's and my house I was cut off once, saw a red VW bug make a right turn in the left lane, and watched two intersections get blocked by people who didn't want to stop for the yellow light. Hey, better to be blocking the flow of traffic than stuck at a stop light, right?

Through my travels on LJ I managed to find a local person with a kitten that needs attention. They're in the next town, which on any other day would be a cake walk. I'm waiting for them to respond to my email if they decide to accept my offer so I can arrange to go pick the little guy up. They've been offered a few alternatives and may pursue those first. In the meantime I'll just be here, enjoying the view.

Yeah, the driving in snow thing bugs me too. And I don't even have a license, I just sit there next to my mom, whilst yelling at bad drivers! ^_^

Kitten needs care? So you're going to adopt it, or merely keep it for a while?
