Aging gracefully online

Oh gawd auntie, why you hafta be so MEAN?
Seriously, my back is fucking killing me. When I was maintaining my weight, all my girly pain was in my lower back. I could predict the start of my cycle from that pain, and as much as I hated it it was a good thing. Since February, when my weight started to climb, the pain had moved to my belly. This distressed me for some reason. So now I take the back pain as a good sign, that I'm making progress in my diet and exercise and bringing my body back to balance.
Recent events in my communities have made me question some of my community memberships. Communities like
craftgrrl and
clucky are very active, but the demographic there is a little out of my comfort zone. While I'm happy to answer questions in
menstrualhut and
vaginapagina, there are times I'd rather be the one getting answers. Somehow, I really don't think advice from people half my age is that helpful when it comes to my body. I'm working on an idea for a specialized women's community that might fit the bill. Thing is, not a lot of older women spend time online. There are more important things out there to do than blog.
Stop laughing. I'm serious.
If you're over 30 (by any number of years), female, and interested in helping other "older" LJ women out, you're welcome to voice your concerns and ideas here. If you're not, that's fine, too, but keep in mind what I'm asking for. Youth is relative in almost anything except one's health.

31/10/06 21:17 (UTC)My question on clucky was actually to see if their were enough people to justify a new community but we saw the answer to that.

31/10/06 22:07 (UTC)I understand your concern, young girls usually don't have a clue what they're talking about (about anything really ^_^). And me, well, I'm one of the "lucky" ones, pain only happens once so often and my system runs as smooth as clockwork. So I really wouldn't be able to help you there. Though I've seen my sister suffer, and she loooooves her hot-water jug...

31/10/06 22:12 (UTC)I'm clockwork, too. I'm just sick of dealing with it for reasons I'm not up to going into at this time. ;-)

31/10/06 23:20 (UTC)but whatever. i recommend anaprox for pain and a glass of wine to relax. my periods have gotten WAY more painful and heavy into my 30's. my dr. claims its normal and all downhill from here. i also only get cramps on one side. apparently that too is normal.
who knew?
