Here Comes the Rain Again

I have never been so happy to see the rain in my life. It's not much, but it brought back the smell of wet sidewalks and made me smile. It was a welcome "everything is going to be okay" from the sky.
"Wynne, that's a very odd thing for you to write," you might be thinking, but my day started out kinda strange.
Today was the last day I'd be able to return the defective bed sides to IKEA, so I had to get up early in order to get there and be able to park a decent proximity to the returns entry. I didn't wanna get up. Grady was more than happy to oblige. It started with a 6:45 a.m. hairball. Then he just sat on the floor by my side of the bed and meowed at me for twenty minutes. After that, he tried standing on my back/side/shoulder/butt. Finally, he decided that sitting a foot from my face and pawing at it every time my eyes closed again would be a good idea, and he was right. Alright, ya damn cat -- I'M UP.
I packed up my car with the defective merchandise, got to IKEA without incident, and went through the exchange. The big problem was that we used the wrong screws. Not only that, but we didn't use enough of them. I got a quick lesson in what should have happened, some new hardware, and a handshake before leaving. Once I packed up the car I realized I had to go to the loo, so I locked up the car and found a bathroom. When I got back to the car I realized I had locked my keys and purse in it. Yay.
Luckily, I didn't lock my cel phone in the car, so I took a deep breath and called Garret to beg him to bring me my spare keys. Bless his heart, he drove all the way from Kirkland to Renton in I-405's church traffic to bring them to me. The whole ordeal had me hanging out in IKEA's parking lot for about an hour. I must have watched 500 people walk by me while I waited. This many people need BONDE bookshelves and oversize clocks? *boggle*
Garret was unsure of the directions I gave him to get home, so I decided not to bother with shopping on the South end and just head towards Redmond. I hit Lame Giant and spent about $150 on work/interview clothes after letting the clerk talk me into saving a chunk of cash by applying for a store credit card. Getting over $300 worth of nice (not trendy) clothes for a steal was worth it, and since I didn't apply the purchase to the new card I don't have a bill to pay.
It started to rain as I left the shop, and got heavier as I walked around Redmond Town Center. I found a boutique that only had clothes in sizes 0-3 and was about to leave when a clerk asked me if I had seen the sale racks. When I told her there wasn't anything there that fit me, she explained their unconventional sizing. Apparently, their size 3 will fit me -- it fits up to size 16. Oh. For the record, that place's name is Chico's. Way too much money for some things, BUT, next time I see a Chico's label at the thrift store I'll know better.
After burning out at RTC I headed to Guitar Center. Found the mic I was looking for -- FOR $160!!!! HOLY CRAP. I spent $100 on my last mic barely six months ago. Now I'm wondering if I should bother with this newer, more top-of-the-line one. After calling Garret (again) and having him troll some online sources I decided against buying it at Guitar Center. They are asking too much money for it.
Now I'm at home. The weekend was pretty good even though I spent a bunch of money I probably didn't need to (I'm leaving out a trip to the craft store yesterday that surprised even ME). Clerks II -- OMG I can't be the only one thinking Jason Mews is hawt in this -- was a riot. I could have done without as much of that donkey scene as they left in, though. Ick.
That's enough about me. 'Sup internet?

31/7/06 13:56 (UTC)Gosh, doesn't that sound familiar. I once woke up, startled, since I couldn't breathe, because my cat had decided my face was the best place to take a nap. *facepalms*
"When I got back to the car I realized I had locked my keys and purse in it."
So me. I'd do that. (If I actually had a car...)
Hee, you're doin' pretty ok by the looks of it!
How are those Troublefakers doing?
