Would someone please explain myspace.com to me? I'm still working on a body of work to share, but the myspace thing seems to have a special networking dynamic for artists/participants that I'm unfamiliar with.

myspace is a crazy place -- a place to find old highschool friends, college friends, check out musicians, just a people place -- its like lj a little bit due to the blogging/interests, but its easy to find people and it is a huge thing. i'm on there and have hooked up with a few friends and check out one of my fave artists through there as well..

How would you compare it to LiveJournal? Is there an unwritten protocol in there somewhere? I notice on a lot of myspace pages there are lots of "thanks for the add!" comments on the main page and was wondering if the whole "if I add you and you don't add me you're a meanie" thing was prevalent over there.

i'm not really sure, i've only been using it for awhile.. its really about the friend status from what i see though - who is in the Top 8 on a friends page and stuff. i don't like it from a personal stance as much as LJ -- too cumbersome to use first off sometimes -- but its more about networking, finding people and making a connection.. LJ is harder to do that with but its getting better with the school additions - which is what myspace is useful for.

i've not added several people and not had any backlash, but you never know.
