AWOL: Drummer
Saturday, 22 October 2005 11:32Well, crap. We've been trying to contact him for three weeks with no success. The rehearsal space had already been booked so we took advantage of it. By the way -- I'm a TERRIBLE drummer. I can't play and sing at the same time. I finally got one of those "don't worry about the drums" hand waves from Ethan and things just picked up from there.
But about the drummer. His name is Brian and he's a very nice guy. I thought he did pretty well on drums, too. Up until three weeks ago we were able to contact him through EvilEmpireMail, but his contract ended. He wrote down his phone number and email address for us to contact him, but so far we've had no success. The phone number, and all possible misinterpretations of it, led nowhere. His email didn't bounce, which is good, but he hasn't answered any of our messages, either. I don't think he's flaking on us, for what it's worth. Perhaps it's just a case of Really Bad Handwriting. You never know. I'm going to call his agency on Monday and see if they can get a message through to him.
In the meantime, Ed & Ethan aren't too worried. We're going to put flesh and bone to the songs we have first with acoustic instruments and figure out the drum thing later.
I don't think I've ever come up with lyrics so quickly. It's interesting to see what I come up with now compared to what I did with Not in Front of the Boy. Instead of addressing my sister, my husband, and their issues, I find myself writing songs of social relection and fiction. It's not any easier, but I'm more motivated and confident in my abilities now.
And... AND... for the first time in MONTHS, I have ended the week without any hoarseness. My voice has never felt better. It's awesome.

25/10/05 00:37 (UTC)It seeems from your posts that you are currently in a band, but just in case it is just a group practice thing, I said I would ask.
