fatrockstarToday we got relief from the intense air-conditioning of The Lab. At worse, there were spots that measured 58 degrees. A few places actually registered 74, but those were not in places anybody could sit. It had been getting worse every week, even when we tried to divert the vent's air flow. When I got to the office this morning there was a friendly note on my keyboard informing me that the vent above my head had been officially rearranged to divert air flow -- hadn't we already done that? -- so I ended up calling the facilities' office.
A friendly conversation, some grousing, and a few mentions of the word "lawsuit" later, we got a nice man to come out and investigate. Turns out the sensor was placed in the hottest spot in the ceiling, causing the air conditioner to work overtime to correct it. The nice man moved the sensor and reset it, and within minutes we were all very comfortable. Only one person complained, but we didn't listen to him. He doesn't have to sit in the lab all day.
I can now go to work without worrying about my health. I'd still rather have a real office.
