Three more days!
Saturday, 14 October 2006 06:34I'm so excited!
Rehearsal tonight was cool. Too bad Ed keeps running off to get laid. He doesn't ever say that's what he's doing, but we know. He is sorely missed at the post-rehearsal dinners at The Pumphouse.
I sent a follow-up note to my interviewers today. It's a little late, but better late than never. I found a great quote on chaos that I used. Maybe that will make me sparkly. I don't know.
Two days in the shop and I finally have my car back. It cost me a lot of money. Part of it is because of the diagnostics the garage insists on doing ("better to do this than to just throw parts at it") and the rest is labor. Labor will screw ya every time. But hey, my car is running great, and the mechanics were confident that it would run a long long time after this. Now my only repairs are structural and cosmetic.
Garret is enduring a flare-up and has been stuck in his chair for a few days. This means that if there is no easy food around he will either starve or improvise. He finished the bag of trail mix we bought from Costco on Sunday. Alone. I was pretty pissed, because I had only eaten a handful of it. That bag is as big as his head.
I recorded a new song for the band to rehearse with during our downtimes. New songs are tough because all I usually have is a little thing in my head and scribbled lyrics on the back of an envelope. Now that I have Sonar Home Studio I can lay down a simple drum track, some lyrics, and, once I get my keyboard hooked up, other instruments. Having the option to record on my own makes me a little more snooty about how I want my compositions to sound, but it's also very liberating. I can compose with more confidence.
My weekend will be full of getting out and about, and figuring out how to convince my replacement at UCA that she's way more awesome than she gives herself credit for. Maybe I'll even go shopping. Or not.
It's late. I sleep now.
