I'm There.com!
Friday, 15 August 2003 10:06Finally got to do some roaming around on There.com. It's basically a huge chatroom with lovely visuals. The first night, I just kind of wandered around and shopped without really meeting anyone--unless you count the guy who came to chat me up as I was trying to figure out how to logoff.
Last night was more fun. I met this gal, who introduced me to this guy, who took me to mountaintops and other floatyhighup places so I could jump off of them. There's something about jumping off a cliff and walking away unscathed that satisfies the megalomaniac in me. Since you arrive in There in a tshirt and khakis, it's obvious to everyone that you're new so people flock to you. As soon as you change clothes, though... you're on your own. I decided to save my Therebucks for subtle changes and keep my newbie outfit. I'm too shy to go into an environment like that and just start yapping at people.
There is currently in Beta, so you don't pay anything for the software or the time online. The only thing they require you to pay for is Therebucks, and for $5 you get T9,500 or something. It took them a couple of weeks to send me download instructions, but it's worth the wait.
And since I'm not changing out of my newbie outfit anytime soon, I think I may just spend my Therebucks on a dog.
