Political Post (because everybody's doing it)
Friday, 5 November 2004 23:54The election upset me. I'm not going to lie. Lucky for me, I won't have to try and vote someone out of office next time -- I'll just have to stress out over two completely different icons of crapola to choose from. What can I do? Change the outcome? The people have spoken. The challenger has conceded. All this election has done is give me zits and tummy trouble, and now that it's over I can try and put it behind me.
Maybe I'll become more politically active. Maybe I'll volunteer. Maybe I'll just lay low and try not to create more stress/drama/smoke.
I will probably do what I've done since the war began: Avoid the news as much as possible and concentrate on my own problems. I'm a very high strung person (think Tweek), and can't afford to be overstimulated by media hype.
So I'm just going to focus on what I can do for myself and the people I care about right now. If the president does something stupid, or threatens to, I can be persuaded to stand up and holler. Until then, my passion is about myself and the world that revolves around me. It'll keep me from developing an ulcer, an aneyurism, or a heart attack.
Your mileage may vary. Good for you.
