HOT HOT HOT

I turned off my computer at home in hopes that things wouldn't heat up so much. Now that I have five whole minutes to rub together, I am posting from work. Try not to hold it against me.

Grady's feedings have become much calmer. He has the patience for about 20 minutes, maybe 25 if I give him lots of scritches and talk softly to him. The biggest issue has been vomiting. Two and a half hours after feeding, he will vomit. Last night he barfed a little sooner than that and I had to re-feed him. I hoped that with the extra anti-nausea drug in him he might last through the night (close -- he got to 4 hours). I wonder if he's getting enough of the stuff. The syringe only doles out 1mg doses, and previous doses have been from 4-10mg. I will call my vet today and see what can be done about that.

And, of course, it's really damn hot here. The heat will reach a record 100-101 today. Yesterday I biked home, and didn't think I'd ever cool down. You know it's bad when you step inside an 85-degree house and it feels really good. Grady has been good about finding cool spots inside to flatten out on. I still think he should venture out into the dining room where there's Pergo. Last night and this morning I led him to ice water, and he seemed to get the idea. I set out TWO bowls of ice/ice water this morning. Hopefully that will help, but I still expect to clean up barf when I get home. Darn.

I'm really irritated by how difficult it is to get the food syringe to move, but that's another entry. For now, let me get back to work.

It has been sooo hot here, record breaking temperatures from what I have read.

Glad to hear Grady is doing better and that feeding is becoming a little easier.

what a ride you are on with grady.. i'm hopeful that he'll turn a corner and things will get better. the heat part sucks, i guess up there its not normal to have ac in a home? i've got another friend up that way and she doesn't either. i hope the heatwave passes soon and you can cool down.

i heard a trick to cooling down was to get your top sheet, wet it, lay on a towel and put the sheet over you with a fan blowing. might help!!
