I nearly died laughing last night when I saw that. the 'enemies only' thing was good, too, but I was thinking it would be fun to have a user pic of elmo, with "I'm so emo". If I was clever with my photo and graphics stuff, I could do it, but I'm not, so I'll not waste half the day trying. maybe another time.
In a rude, in-your-face, exasperated kind of way. It would be easy to misconstrue this as a big anti-gay thing, but I think it's more of a big anti-meme thing. If I remember correctly, Laney was one of the first LJ's that posted the rainbos he's protesting!
On our way back from lunch today we passed a guy wearing the sandwhich board advertisement and we started discussing how awful that job must be.
The other funny thing about them was the guy outside the Sleep Country who I had seen for about 6 months before I realized his mattress ad was for a different store somewhere else.
Finally one of my coworkers referred to the corners these guys normally work as "Dignity Free" zones. We laughed our asses off (hopefully it wasn't a you-had-to-be-there sort of a thing) and when we got back to our offices he made up a nice print out of "Dignity Free Zone" (mocking the drug free zone signs) and posted it by the gold-plated toilet outside my bosses office.
