Looks like the High Dive didn't see our "yes, we can play the 8th" email until four days after we sent it. As a result, we won't be playing there on the 8th. There are a few options, one of them being the 11th, which is on a Wednesday. The only Thursday show is within a week of the one at the Rendezvous, and that's not a good idea. If we're going to build a draw we can't afford to dilute the one we've got.

So...

As far as the Rendezvous goes, I need at least one other band to play with us. That shouldn't be too big a pain in the ass.

Here's how gigging works: If you don't have a reputation on the scene, you get shit gigs. The logic here is if you can bring 30 people to a shit gig, then you have earned the right to a not-so-shitty gig or a decent gig. Hence the challenge: Getting your friends and family to attend a shitty gig is work, so it's pretty likely that if your band sucks you won't be able to. After a while, hopefully not too long, your band will either land a regular gig or have enough name recognition among booking agents that it will become easier to get people to come to a show. You have to be committed to the process, though. Nobody wants to book a band that doesn't want to play.

So if you're in the area, come to one of the shitty gigs. Most of the time it's free, and you'll hear some good tunes for your trouble, because my band doesn't suck.
