After rehearsal last night I came home and made bean dip. It was AWESOME, but it was still bean dip, a fact I am reminded of well into the late hours of this morning.

A long, long time ago, in the land of AL, my mother would bring home snack food that consisted of Fritos and canned bean dip. I can remember many an afternoon spent in front of the television watching cartoons and finishing off that combo. I can also remember my mother being not very happy with me for finishing her favorite snack -- it would start with a screech from the kitchen: "WHO FINISHED OFF THE BEAN DIP?" followed by stomping into where I was and repeating herself while shaking her finger at me with a scowl on her face. I dare not laugh, but it was hilarious. I think deep down she knew getting angry over bean dip was a silly thing to do.

I seem to remember a similar response to her discovery that I had eaten all the chocolate chips out of the cut end of her cookie dough log in the freezer once. Now THAT was funny.

And no, I didn't learn anything about nutrition from Mama.
