I think I may have one of these. My fireplace is pretty spacious and looks as if it was well-used in the past. When we moved in there was an iron log-rack-thing in it with a bundle of fresh wood. On the right wall of the fireplace's interior, though, is something that looks like a spigot. It's a natural gas thingy (for lack of a better term) and on the wall outside of the fireplace is a keyhole for a key that you insert and turn to dispense the gas.

I've never ever seen a gas fireplace like this. All the ones I've seen or had in the past have had some kind of contraption set up in it that looks like wood on an iron rack but isn't, and all you really have to do is turn on the gas, light a match, and go. I keep thinking that what I need to do is hook the spigot up to something. I also keep thinking that if I light a wood fire in my fireplace that my house will explode. I really wish I knew how this thing operated. With the high wind advisory it would be nice to have a fire going if the power goes out. The closest thing I have to go on is the link above.

If anyone has an idea, please give me a call or leave me a comment. If you're on my friends list you also have the option of sending me a text message on my cel phone -- which would probably be a better option should my power go out.
