Wednesday, 21 March 2007 17:28For those of you watching American Idol, I have a small tidbit of information for you. I know Blake Lewis. I've met him once or twice as arm candy for my husband's little sister. While he was nice in front of the family, his relationship ended with my SIL when he decided to cheat on her.
At least that's how I remember it. She was sitting in on drummer auditions for UCA and told me about it. Blake, Drake, Flake... it was an "ache" name. I haven't given him much thought until recently when my MIL called to tell us that Laura was sitting with Blake's mom in the audience for last week's taping and we should watch to see if the camera pans to them.
Of course, Garret and I don't watch the show. We can't stand it. He preferred Rockstar INXS when it was on, but I didn't find it to be much different -- oh boy, you can actually SEE the band! -- and it took me a little longer to give a shit. I told my husband I thought it was strange that anyone would think we'd watch at all, but he shrugged it off. "It's Mom, and she's all about Laura."
Still, I thought it was strange that Laura would be supporting Blake at all given his past treatment of her. Maybe she forgot about how upset she was when she found out he was fucking another girl right under her nose? Maybe she forgave him when he made the semifinals? Maybe I'm reading too much into the whole thing and expecting way too much depth of character from someone so young. Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong guy.
So if you were watching AI a while ago and the camera panned to Blake's mom and some girl who looked like a very young Eva Longoria -- you probably saw my SIL, the girl Blake cheated on a little over a year ago.
I'm still trying to figure out how relevant any of this is.
