Numa Numa

The Numa Numa kid does not enjoy his internet notoriety. In fact, he just wants people to leave him alone. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen. Impostors and imitators are showing up all over the place. If you do a Google Video search for "numa numa" you'll find a dozen pages of people wanting to be just like him. My entire office watched all of them over the last couple of days. Now we can't get the song out of our heads. We're humming it in the hallways. We, sadly, are cursed with it.

The song itself is actually a love song. "Numa numa" translates from Romanian to "you don't" in English. Good thing it's not the name of the song. The real name of the song is Dragostea Din Tei (Love from the Linden Trees). A direct translation of it is here. It might be worth recording in English... you know, for fun.
