If you don't, I'm just going to have to send an email. I don't like sending out mass emails for obvious reasons. All I need is you to tell me which one sounds like a good band name. Stories about each one will come later -- what I'm asking has more to do with impact and impression than what actually fits. Mad props to those of you who have already commented. Thanks.

Couldn't stand it anymore and made chocolate chip cookies. We used Alton Brown's recipe and whole wheat flour, which made for some interesting cookie dough AND interesting cookies. They looked burned, but weren't. Mm, mm, good. This morning I got the Red Letter, so I guess I know where all these sugar cravings have been coming from...

Still can't get the sleep thing to work properly. Last night I went to bed before 1 a.m. and STILL couldn't drag my ass out of bed before 10. I guess 10 is better than 2, which is what I did Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I'm going to make up for it by not driving at all today. Everything I need is withing walking distance or on a bus line, so I should be okay.

Garret asked me to buy brownie mix yesterday while I was at the store. Apparently we have a surplus of green that isn't being used as quickly as it probably should. We don't go through a lot anyway (he forgets and I have to protect my voice), so he thinks we can bake it into a batch of decadent brownies this weekend and have a grand ol' time to get rid of it. Then we can get a fresher batch and store it in a foodsaver bag to keep it green forever instead of the jar. That should be interesting.

Thanks for your input, everybody. I'll still have to send email, just not to anyone on LJ. As I said earlier, there are stories behind the names (not all of them interesting) and here they are:

PixyJims (or The PixyJims): One pulled out of our bassist's ass during a brainstorming session. It started out as "PixyJimBobs," but we thought that sounded kinda redneck.

Martha Nell: Martha Nell was my paternal grandmother's only living cousin. I remember she had a lot of knicknacks in her house. Nice lady.

Not-So-Southern Band: Another one pulled out of our bassist's ass during the same brainstorming session. We're bluesy, and I'm an escapee from the South, so it seemed to fit. A little.

Half-step High: Exasperated at the brainstorming process, we attempted to play a song. This led to the guitarist absently beginning his intro on the wrong fret. "Oops, I'm a whole step high." "No, you're a half-step high." "Hey, that's a cool band name. Write it down."

Not in Front of the Boy: The drummer suggested we call ourselves The Goddamn Band, but took it back because his wife wouldn't approve. "Yeah, she's been hammering down on the language as Max gets bigger [he's 8 months old]. 'Not in front of the boy,' she says..."

If these descriptions change your mind at all, comment here instead of in the previous post.

In other news, I ran a LOT today. I ran almost all the way to the mall, in bursts. Much of that was uphill. I probably ran a total of four minutes. Man, what a difference ten pounds makes -- my knees aren't even sore!
