Previously, on "Winifred..."


My new breakfast has almost 40g of protein and hardly any carbs. Primary side effect: mid-morning woozyness. Good thing I'm not driving.

It was a Designer Whey shake. As I was tracking my intake I noticed that I was not getting enough protein in my diet. I had cut back on fat, but that wasn't what was making my carb/fat/protein ratios off-kilter. I could eat more meat (and more fat) or I could get a supplement. I chose a supplement.

I wish they made one of those without the whey that didn't taste like dirt or ass. I could use a straight protein shot.

The trick is knowing what to add. You can add fruit juice, yogurt, peanut butter, cookies... the ingredients I add to the powder & milk/water combo definitely take the dirt flavor down a few steps.

I have not found anything that will cut the taste - whey is easy to hide, only soy protein is hard to find now (all that estrogen talk) and I don't think anything could hide the taste of rice. Ugh.

I'll take tips though.
